About the Role

Are you ready to take the next step in your career as a Cost Manager? We’re seeking a proactive, independent professional to join our Cost Consultancy division. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the financial viability of construction projects, working closely with clients, contractors, and project teams to deliver outstanding results.

Entry Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Cost/Quantity Consultancy
  • Working towards or holding MRICS/NECReg or equivalent professional status
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ relevant experience in the construction industry as a cost manager or similar
  • Knowledge of JCT and NEC contract administration
  • Confident in client-facing roles
  • Essential software: CostX, Spons, BICS; Desirable: Matterport, Autodesk Design, Site Audit Pro
  • Full driving licence required

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead site meetings and attend site for valuation and client account purposes
  • Conduct valuations using digital measurement tools for cost plans and contractor submissions
  • Prepare cost reports, develop project budgets, and ensure client budgetary constraints are met
  • Assess risks and provide solutions to mitigate budgetary challenges
  • Manage, analyse, and monitor project costs and variations, ensuring changes are incorporated into financial controls
  • Prepare pre- and post-contract documentation, including JCT and NEC contract notices
  • Maintain project documentation and support Assistants in best practices
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to budget
  • Mentor and train Assistant Cost Managers
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices

Role Challenges & Aim

You’ll be expected to work independently with minimal assistance, lead client projects, and either hold or be working towards APC qualification. Communication and organisational skills are crucial, as is a drive to build expertise in contract administration from inception to completion.
